Professional & Dependable Landscaping at an Affordable Price

Everything is smart these days so why not make your watering system smart?! Here are my top reasons for switching to a smart irrigation system.

  1. Save money

  2. Save water

  3. Convenience

I did a little research and here is what I found:

A few companies offer upgrades to your existing controller. Simply install a new face plate or Wi-Fi adapter.  That’s right you don’t have to buy a whole new controller just to make it smart.  However, if your system is older you may need to purchase a new controller and there are tons of great options!

We install 100’s of irrigation controllers every year. These are the top 3 brands that most people have installed with us Rainbird, Irritrol and Hunter. These brands offer upgrades to existing systems.

Rainbird offers a LNK Wi-Fi module which works with ESP, TM2, ME and R2XZ controllers to make them Wi-Fi and app based.

Hunter offers a face panel upgrade for their Hunter Pro C models. (Hunter HPC-FP | HPC retro-fit panel for Pro-C controllers)

Irritrol RD series controllers offers “enhancements” that can be added to your existing system. They offer a cloud based hub and a climate logic enhancement. Below are links to both.

Rachio: This controller works with other smart platforms that you may already have: Nest, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and more. It also offers a wireless flow meter accessory as an add-on to the controller which allows you to monitor the outdoor water flow to detect leaks faster and avoid higher than normal water bills.

(I like that this is compatible with your other smart home devices!)

I recently installed a Rachio 3 controller at my house so I could test it out. It did have a lengthy set up process but now that is set up, it has been fantastic! The app for the phone is easy to navigate and you can adjust run times right from your phone. No more going out to your controller to manually change run times or manually turn on a zone or turn off the system because of the rain. It is all at your fingertips! It will also automatically adjust your run times based on current weather! So far this controller has been a great addition.
